Erasmus - a program for the academic community within
National University of Arts, Bucharest

[EuRopean Community ActionS for the Mobility of University Students] is a component of the LIFELONG LEARNING Program and addresses higher education through which it continues - in a revised and extended shape - the action program of the European Community for student mobility and the SOCRATES program.

ERASMUS was launched in 1987 as a program destined to support students in carrying out periods of study in another European country, with the advantage of having that period spent within a partner institution formally recognized. Starting with 1995, ERASMUS became a component of the Socrates program of the European Union. The general idea and objectives of the new program have evolved so that the mobility represents at the present moment just one of the aspects involving students and the teaching personnel. Participation in the activities of the LLP (Lifelong Learning Program) aims to develop the specific academic activities (education, research and innovation) through international cooperation programs. The new European program, proposed under the name Erasmus for all (2014-2020), aims to include a wide range of activities of the EU in higher, secondary, professional and adult education, with respect to the policies within the field of youth and sports for all.

ERASMUS University Charter

The Erasmus University Charter (EUC) represents the essential element in each activity of European cooperation that an university can carry out within the ERASMUS program.

Approved by the European Commission, the Charter establishes the fundamental principles and the minimal requirements, making obvious the ERASMUS activities that each university should follow.
